The People Operations team at Holden Industries, Inc. has a unique opportunity to join them as their Compensation and Benefits Specialist.

Based out of Holden Industries headquarters in Deerfield, IL, this position supports 1500 employees across four unique operating companies in 18 states by serving as our expert in compensation and benefits programs designed to improve employee satisfaction, engagement, and performance.

 Essential Functions:

  • Benefit Programs

    • Administer employee health and welfare benefits and leave plans according to plan documents and all federal, state, and local regulations

    • Interact with benefits broker, carriers, and service providers, as well as internal departments

  • Compensation Programs

    • Administer and support development of resources, systems, and policies for compensation programs including base, cash incentive, and perquisites
    • Ensure tools and practices used are maintained and utilized appropriately to ensure compliance with corporate policies and proactive identification of outliers that may pose a risk to retaining talent

  • Develop and share expertise

    • Provide support to risk management
    • Understand and keep up to date on current trends, resources, best practices, and regulations associated with compensation and benefits
    • Create employee communications to maximize utilization of benefit programs and appreciation of total rewards
    • Respond to employee and management compensation and benefit inquiries, providing customer service that builds commitment and integrity focused on improvement of internal customer experience

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Requires the ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize while handling multiple tasks, ability to exercise judgment, handle confidential information, organizational abilities, attention to detail and function with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with Intermediate/Advanced Excel/spreadsheet skills. Solid Internet research skills
  • Proficiency using an HRIS system for compensation management, benefits and leave administration, preferably experience using ADP Workforce Now.

 Other Job Requirements:

This position requires independent judgment based on knowledge of Holden’s policies and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.

The successful candidate will be well organized with great time management skills and the ability to work without guidance. Discretion and confidentiality is a must.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field and a minimum of five years of experience in compensation and/or benefits; OR associate degree and a minimum of seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in compensation and/or benefits.
